"Abdi" from East Africa wins asylum!

“Abdi” is from an unstable, East African country. As a government employee, he was targeted by members of the Al-Shabaab terrorist group. 

When it was clear that his life was in danger, Abdi fled to the US, and was subsequently placed in detention. A CIJF-funded attorney took his case, and Abdi was granted asylum earlier this year. 

Abdi is one of more than 50 asylum seekers whose legal cases were funded by the Colorado Immigrant Justice Fund in 2025.
