Dani wins his freedom

As a small child, “Dani” came to the United States with his family from Mexico. As a teenager, he became a DACA recipient, allowing him to stay in the country to live and work. As a young man, he was mistakenly arrested by ICE and detained in Aurora, Colorado.

CIJF hired an attorney to submit a habeas petition on Dani’s behalf. The petition was eventually granted, and Dani was released and reunited with his family. 

After his release, Dani’s mother emailed our team to say, “Thank you for visiting him, for believing in him, for fighting for him, and for walking beside our family. What you have done for us will stay in my heart forever. I will never forget it.”
